I have interviewed the lovely Kendare Blake. She was an awesome person and I have been lucky to talk to her. Now for the interview.Design O

  1. Which is your favorite queen? Why?: I don’t have a favorite queen!!!!!! I thought I would, but when I started writing them and getting to know them, I found I loved them all.
  2. What was the least favorite part of writing Three Dark Crowns or One Dark Throne?: Middles, probably.  Or the start of a rewrite. It can be a little overwhelming to think about all the work that lies ahead.
  3. Who are your books for?: Anyone, I suppose. Readers of fantasy, sure, but you never know what you are going to latch on to.
  4. What advice would you give to aspiring writers?: Write! Don’t over think things and get stuck. When you’re just starting out, writer for love of writing. Tell your story only to yourself and love every minute of it. Make it fun.
  5. What is your go to book when you’re feeling down?: I don’t actually have one. I don’t have much time for rereading at the moment, because I’m to busy reading new books for the first time.
  6. I noticed that your sphinx cat was called Armpit McGee. Did you name it after the character in HOLES? Why?:  Nope. I have never read HOLES.  My husband named him Armpit McGee, and though he has read HOLES and loved it, he named him that because he has no fur and sometimes gets a bit sweaty…like an armpit.
  7. If you were a naturalist, what would your familiar be?: I’d probably end up with something lazy that eats all the time. Like a beaver. A mean beaver who never wanted to build me a dam. But I would want to be friends with Jules, so that I could pet Camden the cougar.
  8. Where is your favorite place to write(in your house or out of it)?: I only really write in my office at home. Sometimes, a bunch of us who live nearish to each other will get together at a cafe and write and chat a bit and have lunch, but that doesn’t happen very often.
  9. When is The Young Queens coming out? I am dying to read it: I am so glad! I really hope you like it. It tells the story of the queens when they were born, and as they grew up, and it comes out as an eBook on December 26. Not sure when it will come out as a paperback yet.
  10. If you could go to one place in the world what would it be?: I’m lucky enough to travel a lot. I think my next big trip might be Scotland. I’ve never been there and out looks gorgeous. Plus, I used to live in London, and I could pop in there for a few days on the way.Design O
Kendare Blake

122276Kendare Blake is the author of several novels and short stories, most of which you can find on the links on her website. Her work is sort of dark, always violent, and features passages on food when she’s hungry. She was born in July (for those of you doing book reports) in Seoul, South Korea, but she doesn’t speak a lick of Korean, as she was packed off at a very early age to her adoptive parents in the United States. That might just be an excuse, though, as she is pretty bad at learning languages. She enjoy’s the work of Milan Kundera, Caitlin R. Kiernan, Bret Easton Ellis, Richard Link later, and the late, great Michael Jackson, I mean, come on, he gave us Thriller.

She lives and writes in Kent, Washington, with her husband, their cat son Tyrion Cattister, red Doberman son  Obi-Dog Kenobi, rottie mix dog daughter Agent Scully, and naked Sphinx son Armpit McGee. Design O
