downloadStranded on a deserted island with a boy they barely know, sisters Emma and Henri have to find a way to survive together, even after a betrayal back home ruined their relationship.

This book was not what I was expecting. Not in a bad way, it was just different. I really enjoyed the contrast between Emma and Henri and the role that played in their relationship. I also really enjoyed the setting and how all of the characters worked together. The plot and setting were both well written, although none were as intriguing as the characters. If you want to hear more of my thoughts on this book then you should read on.

The characters were amazing!!! I fell in love with them instantly, and then my love for them only grew throughout the book. I loved some more than others but its’ okay. The characters were extremely detailed and well thought out. I connected with the characters easily and felt emotions when something bad happened to them. The sister relationship was like my relationship with my sisters. There was fighting and then there were periods of calm. It was amazing how well it was portrayed and how realistic the characters were.

My favorite character was Henri. She was probably the most unlikeable character in this book, and that was why I liked her. She was the first one I connected with and even though she made some terrible choices, she still made up for it. I can’t say that I would want her as a sister, and I’m sure if I would want her as a friend, but I would like to know her, in some capacity. I think that she could be an excellent person if she ever got her life together. I also think that she should have gotten more support for what she was going through.

The plot was pretty good. It wasn’t as good as the characters but there was no want for action or drama. The plot split into two parts. The present day, where the girls and Alex were stranded on an island, and the past, leading up to the events ripping apart Henri and Emma. It was very interesting to hear about what those events but it was also very sad. I wish that the pacing was sped up a bit because sometimes the story seemed to slow down a little too much for my liking.

The setting was not as good as I’d hoped it would be. It was still very good, I just wanted to know more about the island where they were stranded, and about Alex and Casey’s background. I was very curious and wanted to know more than what was given to me. I think that the setting was very interesting, but I always wanted to know more about everything (except the girl’s backgrounds, they were explained well enough). I think that the setting was the worst part of the book, which means that it wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t as good as everything else.

This book was very different from what I expected it to be, but I enjoyed it. I highly recommend it. The summary came from the Library of Congress. Please remember to fill out my survey. You can find the link on my about page. Thanks for Reading!!!! Have a Great Day!!!! -Annalee and Buttons
