downloadSixteen-year-old Aza never intended to pursue the mystery of fugitive billionaire Russell Pickett, but there’s a hundred-thousand-dollar reward at stake and her best and most fearless friend, Daisy, is eager to investigate. So together, they navigate the short distance and broad divides that separate them from Russell Pickett’s son, Davis. Aza is trying. She is trying to be a good daughter, a good friend, a good student, and maybe even a good detective, while also living within the ever-tightening spiral of her own thoughts.

Is it bad that this is my first John Green novel? Actually, it probably is. But I loved it!!! It made me feel emotions that I didn’t know I could feel while reading this book. I think that the characters were amazing, so were the plot and the setting. If you want to hear more of my thoughts then you should read on.

The characters were very well written. I loved them all to pieces and hated it when they fought. All of the characters were so realistic and were some of the best characters that I have ever read. I connected with all of them and wish that there were many more books featuring them. All of the characters changed a lot over the course of the book. I think that they were great and wish that I could have met them all.

My favorite character was Aza. Which broke my heart all the more. She was so unique and strong-willed and able to fight off her inner demons. You don’t read about characters like that every day. I also how Aza was so real. She would be stuck in her head and then someone would call her out for it and then she would try and change. It was really interesting to hear what she was thinking to learn about friendship with her.

The plot was amazing as well. It was the perfect amount of detailed, intriguing, and talking. This book was very character-based. After all, it is about a character changing the way they think about the world and becoming themselves. It was amazing to read about Aza’s journey and to realize that she would change the world one day, probably in the field of medicine.

The setting was pretty good as well. The characters didn’t go out a lot, so it was extremely basic. It was the car (Harold), Aza’s house, school, and Davis’ estate. I really enjoyed reading about the school, and how everyone functioned there. The setting was very descriptive and I liked the way that everyone thought of them. I also enjoyed the backstory. It explained everything that I needed to know efficiently and in an interesting way.

I really enjoyed this book and think that it was a good way to ease me into the writing of Mr. Green. I highly recommend it to everyone. The summary came from the Library of Congress.
