download (1)Angie can tell that inhuman school athlete Reece is unique, and when something supernatural tries to attack her and she engages in a battle between good and evil, she must ensure that she does not fall in love with Reece, who signals death.

This book was very disappointing. I fell right into it and nothing much happened. The characters weren’t that good, I wanted them to be, but they weren’t. The plot and the setting were okay but forgettable. It all seemed a bit like Twilight. If you want to hear more of my thoughts then you should keep reading.

The characters were okay. They were ordinary. I enjoyed them a lot but I don’t think I will ever remember any of them. If someone mentions Black Bird Of The Gallows then I’ll turn bright red because I’ll have read it but not remember anything. All of them were very well-written just forgettable.

The side characters seemed a bit underdeveloped. All of them were very one-sided. All I knew about them was that they were Annie’s friends and they helped her with her music. I also know that Deno likes Angie. That’s all I remember from the book. I should remember more than that. I can remember I got more about Angie and Reece, but not much.

Angie and Reece, the two characters that sort of a Twilight vibe to them. It was just their relationship. Some of it felt like it was stolen from the saga. I think I remember Bella trying to figure out what Edward was with. And Edward was defiantly pushing Bella away from him because of what he was. That happened in this book too.  And why did Angie think that spying on Reece with a pair of binoculars was a good idea?

Black Bird Of The Gallows Quotes

The writing style was very normal. It was pretty closely related to most supernatural authors’ writing style. I wanted it to be unique but it wasn’t. The writing style wasn’t addictive, or poetic, or bold. It was just there.

The plot was okay. There weren’t that many plot twists, which broke my heart. It was quite predictable and somewhat boring. Until three-quarters of the way in. Then everything happened so fast that I had to go back and re-read it several times to make sure that I didn’t miss anything. The pacing was off and so was the action. I was expecting Angie to fight back or something when she was threatened!

The backstory was probably the best part of the book. There was a lot of work and detail put into that. I loved learning about the harbingers and the Beekeepers and everything else in their world. I really enjoyed reading about this part of the book and only wish that this has been extended to the rest of the book.

The rest of the setting wasn’t that good. I really didn’t like the fact that nothing was described very well. I wanted to be immersed in the small town and what was happening. As you can probably tell, that didn’t happen.

I really wanted to enjoy this book and be interested and talk about it with you but that didn’t happen. I am giving it a higher rating because I really enjoyed the backstory. I can’t recommend this book. I got the summary from the Library of Congress. Remember to fill out my survey!!! You can find the link to it on my about page. Thanks for Reading!!!!!
