This book might be my favorite Kristoff book, to date. I was engrossed in it and couldn’t wait for the next juicy detail to appear, or for a little bit of action. Jay did an amazing job with this book and I was so stunned by his amazing characters and writing style.

Jay’s writing style was nothing short of superb. The notes at the bottom of each page really stood out and made Nevernight so much more interesting. Jay’s writing was very lyrical and easy to read. I loved it and hope that Godsgrave‘s writing style is as good as this. Jay Kristoff’s writing style blew me away and I loved that. I really enjoyed how Jay’s style wrote the thoughts of Mia and Mr. Kindly. It seemed to be very realistic and I really think that this was Jay’s best book yet.

Mia, Mr. Kindly, and all of the other characters were amazing!!! I loved Mr. Kindly from when he was introduced, and I think that he is the narrator. Only he would know Mia that well. Mia was such a tough woman, and I loved how the narrator made it very clear that she was not a very nice person. All of the side characters were so well-written and I loved all of them. The villains were just characters that I loved to hate, but I won’t spoil anything by ranting about them. All of the instructors were very well-written, neutral, characters. But my favorite character, by far, is Mr. Kindly.

The Church of the Lady of Blessed Murder was a truly unique setting. A place where killing is not only tolerated, but encouraged. Suffice to say, I fell in love with it instantly. Mia enjoyed it as well, and I can see why. The Church was in one of the oddest settings I have encountered and wish that there were a few more settings like it. I hope that the other books return to The Church of the Lady of Blessed Murder. I think that this is one of my favorite settings in a fantasy novel.

Nevernight Quotes

The plot was very very very intriguing. There was a lot of backstabbing, betrayal (all things that I love in a fantasy novel), and dialogue to die for. The conversations between Mia and Mr. Kindly were glorious!!! There was a lot of fighting and planning and drama. The one thing that I didn’t like about this book was all of the girl/girl hate. I understood it, but I still didn’t like it. I loved how all of the characters seemed to be able to understand their challenges and what they were getting into. But, seeing Mr. Kindly come in and do whatever he had to do was defintly my favorite part of the book.

I loved this book and I highly recommend it!!! I got the summasy from the Library of Congress. Remember to fill out my survey. You can find the link to it on my About page. Thanks for Reading!!! Have a Great Day!!! -Annalee and Buttons
